Promotions to Major General February 19, 1777 *

Congress named five new major generals on February 22, 1777. Benedict Arnold's name was not on the list. He took this as a tremendous slight. All of the officers were inferior to Arnold in seniority and accomplishment.

The five were:

Arthur St. Clair (see my gallery on him under "Andre's Court Martial Board")
