  1. Trial and Execution of Major Andre

Andre's Prison (Mabie's Tavern)

The Old '76 House, 110 Main St, Tappan, NY
See their website: http://www.76house.com/

Now a restaurant, this former tavern was the place Major Andre was held prior to his trial, and as he awaited his execution. The owner of the restaurant is a gracious host and quite knowledgeable about Andre's time in the building. He has decorated the public areas with many pictures, maps, etc. A visit to this site is highly recommended to enthusiasts of the Arnold/Andre story.

According to Cornel Lengyel, in his book "I, Benedict Arnold," Arnold attended a council of war called by Gen. Washington in this building on Sept. 6, 1780.
