Edward Shippen's Stone House *
52 West King St, Shippensburg, PA
This Edward Shippen was Peggy Shippen's grandfather. He was the founder of Shippensburg. The "strong stone house" referred to on the marker is now the home of the Shippensburg Historical Society, which refers to it as the Stewart House. Shippen built the original portion of the house, in which he stayed while superintending his interests here. His primary residence was in Lancaster, PA.

There are two identical historical markers in Shippensburg, one as you enter from the east and the other from the west. This is the eastern marker, located on East King St (US 11) just east of Walnut Bottom Rd (PA 174), as seen on hmdb.org
