David Hawley Grave *
Old Stratfield Cemetery, opposite 923 Briarwood Av, Bridgeport, CT
David Hawley (1741-1807) captained the schooner Royal Savage in the Battle of Valcour Island. He is buried in Old Stratfield Cemetery, but a gravestone has not been found. He is mentioned, however, on an engraved stone plaque on a gate post of the cemetery. That gate is found in the rear of Clinton Park, opposite 36 Brooklawn Av. Walk through the park to reach the locked gate.
