in front of 522 Main St, (next to the Federated Church, 504 Main St,) Castleton, VT

Benedict Arnold arrived here, the site of Richard Bentley's farm house, on May 8 (or 9). Ethan Allen had already gone on toward Ticonderoga, but Arnold met with Captain Mott and other members of the ad hoc "committee of war." Arnold pressed his right to command the planned operation, then rode on to meet up with Allen in Shoreham.
