• This wider view has Hand's Cove on the right, and the garrison house in which Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen met late on May 9, 1775 on the left, obvious due to it's shiny roof. The two independent-minded men worked out the joint-command arrangement and planned the attack, then moved a small contingent across the lake under cover of darkness, entering the fort at about 4 AM next morning.
• When I visited in 1996, I met retired Atty. Robert Maguire who owned property at Hand's Cove. He spoke with us about the events of that night, and graciously allowed me to walk down to the shore of the cove and look across to Fort Ticonderoga. In this photo, the fort would be located atop the lower wooded ridge on the far shore.
• This is the garrison house where Arnold and Allen met to plan the attck. It was also owned by Atty. Maguire. See an article he wrote about the house at http://vermonthistory.org/journal/misc/HandsCove.pdf
