James Easton was a militia colonel who, when he heard about the Connecticut plans to attack Ticonderoga, immediately set about recruiting troops. He would later clash strongly with Arnold, and became a constant antagonist during the entire Ticonderoga/Lake Champlain campaign. Interestingly, all those mentioned on the plaque became life-long enemies of Benedict Arnold.
