Joseph Weston Home Site and Grave
Home site: approx. 512 Waterville Rd, Skowhegan, ME (about 0.25 mi east of Old Bloomfield Cemetery access road)
Grave: Old Bloomfield Cemetery, approx. 492 Waterville Rd, Skowhegan, ME. There is a sign along Waterville Road. Turn here and follow what appears to be a driveway as it passes close to a house and turns left. At the end of the road is the cemetery. The public is allowed access.
Joseph Weston was one of the original settlers of the area. Arnold, in his journal entry for Sunday, Oct.1, 1775, records that he "Dined at one Westerns 3 mi before Sou heagan falls at 4 P.M." Joseph Senior helped with the difficult portage over the falls, took sick and died shortly thereafter. His son Joseph Junior joined the expedition, later returning and leading a full life in Skowhegan.
