William Heron Grave
Christ Church Cemetery, 184 Cross Highway cor. Black Rock Turnpike, Redding, CT
Heron was a possible double-agent to whom Arnold, at Robinson's house, gave a letter to Major Andre (using the pseudonym John Anderson) in an attempt to open a shorter line of communication, as he had become commander in the Highlands. According to Stephen Brumwell in his book "Turncoat," Heron, possibly to prove his patriot bonafides, gave it to American Gen. Samuel Parsons.
Heron's role in the war (American agent? double agent/British agent?) has been in dispute and will probably never be ascertained.
