  1. Arnold at Ticonderoga

Samuel Elmore Grave

Lake Elmore Cemetery, next to 2509 Elmore Rd (Rt 12), Elmore, VT

Elmore, VT was named for this Revolutionary War veteran. He was a grantee, and eventual resident of the town.

Elmore was the officer at Fort Ticonderoga with whom Benedict Arnold was conversing when Col. Easton rudely interrupted, causing Arnold to kick Easton. The story is recounted in Brumwell's book "Turncoat," and in greater detail in Randall's "Benedict Arnold, Patriot and Traitor."
