King's Ferry, west shore of the Hudson
adjacent to Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site
Stony Point, NY
Major Andre and Joshua Hett Smith began the trip toward the British lines late Friday afternoon, Sept. 22, by crossing the Hudson here at King's Ferry. The actual spot where the ferry landed on the western shore is now private property, between the railroad tracks and Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site. The best place from which to get a glimpse of the site is at the end of a walking path at the SPBSHS. The path (see sign, "King's Ferry") begins behind the museum.
