Arnold's HQ at Valley Forge
Meadow Brook Golf Club, 1416 State Rd, Phoenixville, PA
The Coates House, which is part of the structure of the present clubhouse, served as headquarters for several officers during the Valley Forge encampment. Benedict Arnold used it for a brief time prior to assuming his responsibilities as military governor of Philadelphia. According to this website, Gen. Arnold hosted a reception for fellow officers in the yard here to celebrate his appointment: http://www.schuylkilltwp.com/Recollections/MeadowBrook.html
According to this news article, the golf club has closed, and the property will be redeveloped by the Phoenixville Area School District: http://articles.philly.com/2014-09-24/news/54244399_1_eminent-domain-district-officials-golf-club
The school district broke ground for an elementary school and playing fields on September 28, 2015. Whether the Coates House will survive this redevelopment is unknown to me in February 2016.
